Japan Historics 2 - Finally

To be honest, I didn't think I'd ever have any Japan Historics models in my Hot Wheels collection.   I've never seen them on the pegs in the stores around where I live in Canada for as long as they've been out for.   I think it's been over a year now since the issue of JH2.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find some hanging on the pegs at the ToysRUs store in the Festival Walk mall which is located in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong.   I went there to check on their Tomica offerings but ended up checking the Hot Wheels aisle.

The JH2 cards were really bent at the corners and creased.  The only car missing from the series was the  silver Datsun Bluebird.  As part of the TRU promotion, if you purchased 3 Hot Wheels cars, you got the 4th one free.  That ended up working out for me.  I'll eventually get rid of the packaging anyways.

So each car cost me $59 HKD or approximately $7.54 USD each.  Out of the 4 cars, one was free so the total cost was about $180 HKD or about $23 USD / $30 CDN.  In Canadian dollars, each car is about $10 CDN, before the discount and $7.50 CDN after discount.

I also visited the ToysRUs store in Tsim Sha Tsui a few weeks ago, but didn't find any Japan Historics 2 there.  So far most of my diecast acquisitions have been Tomicas.  To see the latest updates, feel free to check out http://mytomica.blogspot.com.

Acura Integra and Honda Civic

Here's my red 1990 Honda Civic EF.  Grandma's going to take it out for a spin.

I guess because the car is red, you can't really differentiate the taillights.   The black stripe on the side could be a bit darker.

Here you can see the detailing on the head lights and you can almost make out the Honda emblem on the hood.

The tampos on both sides of the car are messed up.  Don't know why.

And this is the Hot Wheels Custom 2001 Acura Integra GSR.

The headlights are just a tad too narrow, but the front spoiler detail is excellent.

And the rear is nicely detailed also.  The Integra logo and tail lights are a nice touch.

Thanks for checking out my Honda and Acura Hot Wheels.

Orange Toyota MR2

Here's a picture I posted on Reddit r/hotwheels today.  I think this version is from the year 2000 and it was found in a 5 pack.  I don't see this one very often, so it's probably pretty rare.  Here's the Hot Wheels wiki page for the Toyota MR2 casting:

My New Hot Wheels - April 13, 2018

Walmart finally brought in some new stock this month after several months of empty pegs.  Although there were lots of new cars in the bin of death, I practised self control and came home with just a dozen.  Most if not all are part of the Hot Wheels 2018 Mainline series, except the Matchbox of course.

The Matchbox diecast pickings have been really slim of late, so this nice Prius taxi was just hanging there all by itself.  It will make a nice addition to my taxi fleet.

I think this Chevy pickup is fairly new, so I grabbed it for the pic.  Not sure if I will hold on to this one though.

Here's the latest recolour of the VW Golf in bright yellow with black and red accent stripes.

Can't say no to this BMW M2.

The new Mazda RX7 in a flourescent green colour.

So this is my first Honda City Turbo casting.  I still haven't found the white one yet.

The newest Nissan Skyline R30 in gray.

So I thought this would be blue, but instead I got the purple Nissan Skyline GT-R R33.

This white Mazda Bepu pickup will join the black one I found from 2017.

This white Acura Integra will also join the black version in my collection.

Yet another white JDM, this one is the Nissan Fairlady Z.

And finally the 96 Nissan 180SX Type X in white.  I'm still needing the black version of this vehicle.

Let me know what you think of these latest cars.  Have you already got them in your collection?  Thanks for looking!

Hot Wheels Datsun Fairlady 2000

Happy New Year!  I just found this little beauty at a nearby Walmart.  There were tons of this new Hot Wheels Datsun Fairlady 2000 in the dump bin, both on short card and long card.

I was worried that it would be hard to find this new 2016/2017 casting but it looks like Mattel made sure there will be plenty to go around.

The Fairlady is part of the 2017 Legends of Speed sub series and is number 22 of 365 cars for this year.  Looks like there will be a new or recolored model for each day of the year.

This new casting has lots of nice details on the front grille and rear tail lights.  There are some pretty aggressive fender flares around the wheels.

With all the racing logos, there's no doubt this import is ready to race.  I can't wait to see this model re-issued in normal non racing livery.  I have a hunch that Mattel will probably re-issue this car in gloss or flat black pretty soon.
